My 6 year old is the pickiest eater ever. I have tried everything under the sun to get her to eat. The harder I try the less likely she is to try it. The only time she eats a good balanced meal is when we go to a chinese buffet. I try to ccok some of her favorites from there at home, but she always say's it's not the same. I have found that she is more willing to try new things at school, and around other children. She just wants to do what they are doing. She is basically a chicken nugget and Broccoli kind of girl. Her Dr. says it is fine, and she is healthy. I know she gets nowhere close to the recommended amounts in the food pyramid. I do give her a vitamin supplement daily. Just give them time, they will learn on their own.

Kids are like that. If they are old enough, try involving them with the cooking. They could help measure or stir or something like that. Or maybe let them come up with a meal plan. Write down the things you have to eat and let them come up with a menu or involve them with making the choice of what to have. Sometimes if you make food more appealing, they might want to eat. Like for sandwhiches, use cookie cutters to make the sandwich into something cute. Use your imagination. here are a couple of websites that might give you some ideas. http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/?CP=KNC-FFGoog100705 http://www.parentkidsright.com/pt-toddlerwonteat.html

You set the food they will eventually eat, healthy kids will not starve themselves for long. I cook my kids ate or waited til the next meal, end of story.

Eating is one thing I don't argue with my kids about. They either eat what I serve or they don't eat. Sometimes they don't eat. They don't get anything else until the next scheduled meal or snack but they are aware of this up front and that's just the way it is at my house. Food is one thing I will not argue about with them.
