Genuine R&B

For those of you who love to listen to classic R&B such as the late Barry White up to talented groups like SWV, do you honestly think that the quality of R&B groups and singers of today compare to these artists of yesterday? I certainly do not believe so because a high number of artists, not only in hip hop, tend to copy other singers in style and tone. Barely any of them I find to be original, such as Ciara, who is simply a clone of the late Dana "Aaliyah" Haughton. If you haven't noticed, her style of songwriter, singing are all direct copies of this legendary performer. Now don't get me wrong, I know people singers of the 90'S had musical heros, but that does not provide an exvcuse for cloning their styles. In theory, R&B music is no longer about the quality but the green, depending on how much units can be sold. It is being abused as a lifesaver from poverty by people who do not really harness the talent their predecessors had. One of my favorite R&B groups of the late eighties were known to be Force MD's. "Love is a House" is a huge hit that spread like butter over the air. Another group that I mentioned in the first paragraph are a group of ladies with beautiful voices. One could tell good talent from hearing them. SWV, Sisters with voices, are a group of girls that should be running Singing 101 classes to all aspiring singers, alongside Gladys Knight and Anita Baker. Where do you think the future of R&B is taking us, and do you think the world is reaching a deficit of truly talented entertainers?
