Over the years I have found myself writing lyrics. Some are great, others are just silly and make nose sense at all. Some are filled with passion, others are filled with hate. I'd like to share a few of them here with you. Please feel free to let me know what you think of them. Also, I'd love it if you'd share some of your own lyrics. I'd also like to mention that all the lyrics posted on this discussion are copyrighted to me. And if anyone posts their own in responses to this discussion, they are copyrighted to their rightful owner. Please do not try to take them, and pass them off somewhere else as your own.

I've always been quite a fan of, Evanescene, and I thank you for sharing the lyrics. It's a great song, and the power that she has to belt it out in that voice is beautiful. But this discussion was set up so that people could share lyrics that they have created themselves. Still, a beautiful song none the less! And, that's a great picture of the band as well.

Poetry and Lyrics are closely drawn together, so you have a point in what you're saying. Often in the days of old poetry would be sung, rather than just read aloud. That alone is enough of a strong pull to tie to two together.

I'm not a big fan of this band.. but, nonetheless, their lyrics are powerful. I am amazed by how many songs I truly do not care for, yet when reading the lyrics to the same songs it is a different story. Some may argue about poetry versus song lyrics, but to me anything is a poem... a story, a scream, even an Evanescence song.

This is a little ditty I made up for my daughter when she was a baby.

Definately not going to win any awards but my daughter loves it and sings it herself now and also asks me to sing it to her. She is 8 now.

Awe, I think that's simply beautiful. It's so touching, and I'm sure that when she grows up and has children of her own, she may be passing that song down and into their hearts as well. ^_^

nice try. But as far as I am concerned I let the singers composers and lyricists do their job. Dont want to create something for which I am not made. Any way nice one.

Yes you do have a point, there are some people who write lyrics, who really shouldn't. I'm not saying that mine are good enough to ever actually become songs. I do it because it's just a fun little hobby, nothing more, and nothing less.

i've been writting lyrics since i was in 7th grade...i would hear songs and make up other words to the music and melody...it started from there and became over 500 different song lyrics...i don't really know how to write the music part, so the melody of how it goes is in my head. i always had reminders of what inspired the song to help me written on the sheet. right now i don't have access to most of my original lyrics written between 1995-2001 because they're all on 3 1/2 floppy disk drives, and only my laptop (which i don't use that often) has this type of drive. so here are some lyrics (i'm not putting the full song) to some of my songs that i thought were the best.

-this song i wrote back in 2000 when i found out my sister was going to get married. the marriage was called off a year latter but i still heald on to the song hoping that i would be able to finish it when she finally did get married. unfortunatly, i wasn't able to find someone to put music to it..=( i would love to make this song a reality...so if you know anyone who would like to help, please contact me at stayinghome247@hotmail.com i know the melody and how it goes...without that...its just a poem. please don't steel my lyrics...thank you.

That is so beautiful, you have a real talent with words, honestly you do. I don't really know anyone who writes music, but if I ever run across them. I'll be sure to send them in your direction. I think you really have something there with that one.

I do understand what you're trying to say, thank you. The lyrics I shared were a bit morbid, but I haven't been writing songs that depressing in a few months, now that I'm happier, and have someone treating me right, in love, and all that good stuff. My current writings have been much, much more sappy.
