Hello, for the people outthere that have had this issue come up. The automatic updates from windows were downloaded yesterday and guess what it damaged some applications, and I received the following message: "svchost.exe -- application error the instruction at "0x745f2780" reference memory at "0x00000000". the memory could not be 'read'"The computer freezes and you cannot connect to the internet, it goes crazy...anyways..I found out that this is a problem that comes tied to some of the automatic upates from windows automatic updates. I searched the internet and found out this site: http://swigartconsulting.blogs.com/tech_blender/2006/07/windows_update_.html I spend about 5 or 10 minutes and followed the simple instructions with the "run" menu and the problem got fixed and my computer saved. If you have this error messages PLEASE try this before you throw your pc away or reinstall OP XP. It takes a few minutes and gets rid of the damage done by this update. let me know if this helps...:) It fixed my computer. Good Luck

good thing that you've fixed your computer, at least you can work now :) for me, i configured my system not to automatically download the updates. i just choose what to download and because i don't internet explorer, i don't select those updates related to this browser. but i always update my anti-virus.
