People today are more attracted towards money than science

People nowadays are more attracted in making money. The careers they chose and the work they do is all based on the amount of money they would be able to make. For instance, many people are now attracted towards business subjects, thinking that business makes them earn more. On the other hand, there are very few people with the thought to do something innovative and making a difference. E.g. researching on a variety of scientific topics in order to benefit the society and the environment, or to beacome an engineer and find solution to problems. I think that one should not be so selfish, its okay to think that what career they chose achieves them a better life, but they must also keep in mind the benefits to society and the environment. What are your comments on this?
