do we really need friends in our lives? and why

No man is an island entire by itself... This is the famous saying by a Noble Prize Winner (I forgot the name). Man cannot live all by himself. He needs family and friends. Friends play a gallant role in the life of a person by imbibing confidence, by extending help and cooperation, by sharing the knowledge etc.
