Do you know animal are curious about the surrounding? It is better to leash them when going outside for a walk with them .Even they are well trained and listening to your command always you just should leash them when bring them out .As when they are so curious they may even ignore or not following command or even inaware of your command and danger around them so don't think that when you leash them you are not giving it freedom.

I can allow my dog to run freely in our yard. If we are going for a walk, she has to be leashed, she is just an extremely social dog and wants to be petted by everyone! She is just 16 lbs, but has a huge attitude and thinks that she can take on bigger dogs and she does not realize that she is invading their terrritory and she stands and barks. Let one of those big dogs come over and sniff her, she is hid behind my legs piddling. *lol* Gotta love my dog!! Lots of spunk & personality and a big ole' scaredy cat.
