Sippy cups and other useless stuff...

I'm sitting on the kitchen floor playing with my 2 year old daughter. We are playing with fake makeup and I'm having coffee, she's having a sippy cup full of milk. We are playing good, when she sees me take a drink of coffee, she picks up her sippy to take a drink too, and it just spills all over her!!! Like I didn't even put the lid on!!! The stupid things that go up inside the lid will NOT stay in the darn things!!! I might as well give her the whole darn milk jug to walk around with!!! I guess I'm stupid, I have 5 kids, I've went through this with all of them, but you would think that with all the technology out there someone would be able to make a REAL no-spill sippy cup!!! AHHH! (Needed to get that out! lol) Another useless thing I have is a baby gate.... All of my children have just climbed over them like they are not even there. If they want it bad enough they will succeed! They might get bumps and bruises but one way or the other they are getting over that gate! These things only work until they learn how to walk and climb, then you can't keep them out of anything...the lovely Terrible Two's!! What is a useless thing you have? Happy Holidays!!

I agree sippy cups are useless even if the thing doesn't fall out if they lay side ways long enough they'll slowly drip. I think baby gates work great for dogs but not kids. One useless thing my mom got is a traveling playpen the only thing is this one she got is so complex and big you can't take it anywhere. I now use it as a toy box.

lol..I agree. Mine is packed up, in closet and has been for a while now. All it was good for was my older ones to jump in and out of! SOOO ANNOYING! Another thing that irks me about baby stuff is double strollers...They make those things so big, even when folded up, they are the ONLY thing that fits in the trunk at one time. And they are sooooo heavy. Thanks for the response, happy holidays!

Oh ! With so much of experience with five kids, by this time you should have been an expert in this field and should have come up with some practical and innovative ideas, so that along with yourself, others who are sailing in the same boat may have some relief! You have identified the problem and next step must have been to come up with the soution for it ! I hope after reading my opinion you will pay attention and I am sure you will come up with some solid solution to make these useless things be getting transformed into some useful things ! All the best !

I agree, I have not found any that don't leak sooner or later, and the gates really or use less. Kids will be kids and they will do it no matter what if they want it bad enough. I think I have so many useless things, I can't just name one. Merry Christmas.

I would say that the only useless thing in my home that I can think of at the moment is my cheese grater. It is extremely ancient and doesn't really do the job for us anymore...I wonder why I even keep it actually lol

My most useless items are plastic baby spoons, I can use them somewhat but they are so thick and don't hold barely anything that my daughter can't use them to feed herself. At least baby forks do stab somewhat and if need be she can use a metal one. But to use an adult spoon is to hard because its big and arkward and the baby ones are impossible. How old will she be before she can feed herself soup? lol

UUUMMMMM, My old man hasn't even mastered that one yet, he still wears half of his!lol I find that soup spoons work best for my two year old, ones with thicker handles! lol....soup, soup spoons, get it! No, honestly I give her a soup spoon for everything, since it's so wide and it's deep it works great for rice, mac and cheese, cereal, and it's great for corn, and peas! Good Luck, Happy Holidays! As you will see by my picture, my daughter can make quite a mess with EVERYTHING!

sippy cup failure is common with the ones with the anti leak flange less spillage was actually found with the cheaper brands. Just keep an eye on the size of the flow holes. If to fast i plug up the little air hole at the other side of the lid to slow the flow down. As for the gates yep most get climbed sooner rather than later. I have home made solid pine ones with no way over unless the push something over to it.
