punishment for pregnant women

What punishment should there be for pregnant women who drink or do drugs. They are ruining their childs chance to be all they could be. It isn't right that all they get is rehab. As an adult that child doesn't have the same chances as you and me. I know a few people with A.D.H.D. and they have a hard time understanding even the simplest instructions for some things.*I think there should be jail time and depending on the severity of the problems with the child the mother should be fixed... Same with mothers who kill their babies or children. But thats a new discussion.*

I honestly feel that those children should be taken from those careless and ignorant mothers until she can prove herself to be worthy of having that child!

u just cant punish the women but i believe making them understand how bad it is for d child whos not yet taken birth. Its the womens responsibilty to take care of herself and the child, not only her responisbility but the husband and family is also responsible. I dont understand y do women carry wen they r addicted at d first place.

A mother has to understand that she must not drink when she's pregnant. She should be informed about the ill effects that the child would have to face in the future...
There is no meaning in punishing, because you can't go about checking who drinks and punishing them! Be practical.. Everyone must be advised by doctors or media by advisory programs in order to avoid these things!

i think whatthey need is treatment not penalty because no woman is would intentionally inflict her child such maltreatment right even before they were born, unless of course they are insane.
