What do you think about the former KGB agent who was murdered?

When I saw it on the news I was stunned. Perhaps because I live in a cloistered world where I don't realize these things happen. What a horrible thing to do to any human being. Could ANY information inside a person's head be worth that much? I cannot fathom it. Personally, it frightens me. It shows that the Russian government is willing to do anything and not care about the consequences or who else they may hurt in the process. What are your thoughts on this recent event?
