Parents of children who have been raped/molested

When the molester is caught, do you think that the parents of the child who was raped/molested should be able to get at the molester? In the movie, "A Time To Kill", I totally support what Samuel Jackson did. If that was me, I would have had a license to carry for their azzes too! What would you do? Do you think that they should just put the molester in a contained room and let the family just beat him down/kill him. Especially if he killed the child.

The parent's anger is understandable - which is why they shouldn't be left alone with the criminal. People often react violently and irrationally when enraged. It makes no sense promoting a vengeful spirit. Violence does not fix violence. It would make no difference to the child whether daddy bashed up the bad guy or not. At least the kid wouldn't have to see her parent's violent side. Besides, it's not a good idea to justify violence basedo on violence. An eye for an eye would make the whole world blind. I know it's horrible to have to stare the criminal in his face and look at your kid later. I'd be pissed as hell even if it was just a friend and not my kid. But anger doesn't do us much good. It won't fix anything.

You do have a point. I know I would be hurt if someone hurt my child and I would feel like killing that person, but then I would end up in jail and then who would protect my kids? So as hard as it would be, I would try to hold back. Maybe I would hire a hitman. LOL!

i am a child that had this happen and yes i think that the parent and the child should get to do what ever to the person. one person that done stuff to me was my mothers boyfriend at the time and i told her she did not beleave me. i now have for given her as i some what understand that she was in love and in denile. she has since then said she was sorry she did not put a stop to it. but there are many many things i would love to do to him.

I don't think we will ever find a good punishment for these crimes.

Yes, I think that if this was the way it was that people would alot less likely to commit these horrible acts. I think that if someone murders a person, he ought to die the same way, but 10 times more tortured. I think that if someone rapes someone, they oughta be beaten and raped! I think if they abuse children, or spouses, the same thing should be done right back to them! You get what I'm trying to say! But, two wrongs don't make a right and this will never happen in our lifetime. But, I think someone would think twice if they knew that if caught they are going to face the same thing, but much worse! If someone ever touches any of my children the wrong way...they will die!!! I'll be in prison, because NOONE will ever hurt my babies and get by with it....Good Topic!

My child was molested. A part of me would love to have this person who molested my child in a locked room so that I and my family members could just beat the heck out of her. Then there is a part of me that forgives her because she is a loon and probably needs to be doped up for the rest of her God forsaken life. The movie sounds interesting. I think I'll rent it tomorrow :)

While as a parent I can truly relate to wanting revenge, what would that say about us as human beings if we allowed everyone to take out their own revenge. While the justice system is far from perfect, it does keep our society for being nothing more than animals.

the legal system being too week to punish such culprets, i guess the method you have suggested id teh most ideal. these abusers need to be taught good lessons. in fact they should be publically humiliated and tortured and not killed... so that they live with the pain for the rest of their lives... how about their genitals being chopped off.. hope i am not being too devilish

Yes, I would like to support what you are saying here, These offenders should be taught such a lesson that no other person ever tries to repeat that act again an the contained room theory just seems a good solution where the affected family can take soe of the revenge and justice for the majore injuctice that was faced by them due to these maniacs

I am MUCH more concerned about caring for the abused child than worrying about punishing the perpetrator (who ought to at least be put away from society permanently) because without help the child is likely to perpetuate the sin. Make certain the child is given therapy and help. Such abuse is terribly damaging.

I do see your point on this. However, that would me we are all killers. Although I can say that none of my children personally have not gone through the traumatic experience, I have been through both many many years ago. Believe me, it is not something you ever forget & the nightmares neverr fully go away (more then 30 yrs later). But you can learn to manage to deal with it. I do think that they should be castrated. This way, they can not do it again. Better yet, lets send then on a deserted island with no way to leave. Then, all they can hurt is each other. :)

As much as I would love to say yes I think the family should take care of it....logically speaking i cant agree with it....two wrongs dont make a right BUT that doesnt mean I wouldnt take care of it myself if somethign were to happen to my kids...there would be no arrests or court dates....I would just hunt the person down and kill them myself then spend the time needed to help my kids psychologically

i understand what you feel on this matter..but were living in a world that sets by rules and laws ..that we should abide..let the criminals put to trial and be sentenced ..its how it should be..without laws and rules implemented we will be in anarchy.

This discussion ring very close to home. My ex plead guilty to indecent dealings and spent just 16mth in remand after breach of bail and now wants unsupervised contact with our two girls. Some times the parent of the victims can't act too. His victims father was already in prison for the same thing and the mother not 100% mentally there. Sentences are tool low. The inpact also has a far wider affect than just the victim too!!
