If you set out to find a friend you won't find many. If you set out to be a friend you'll have many. I know a little corny but it's true.

my advice is just be relaxed and confident, dont write poems for anyone straight away as they will think your some kind of psycho and run a mile. also respect and listen to their views and opinions, you will be surprised what listening can do.
