Missing document

Please help me, yesterday (the 12th) I created a new document on my file called "cold" and it has now disappeared from my "my documents". I am convinced it saved properly but even if it didn't I don't understand why there is no auto saved document on my file. How can I recover it? Any help would be much appreciated.

have you tried running a search on your computer for the file? if its there anywhere that should find it.
