Is it cruel to put clothes on your pets?

To me, it seems cruel not to mention it makes pets look ridiculous. Are there truly reasons why its good for the animal to have clothing on, such as breeds that can't handle the cold or to protect their paws from hot pavement or the salt in the snowy winter?

it just means that the owner is high manice(maybe) but it's very cute and if the dog could talk i wonder what the dog would say about the clothing?? i probably wouldn't like it...welll....only if the clothes were ugly.

i think its cruel all animals have there own clothes fur and i think thats all they need
