I take a bath everyday. Sometimes I take a bath twice a day especially when its hot. Why do some people not take a bath everyday?

From times immemorial, our family members are taking bath everyday. We belong to preistly class, performing prayers to the Almighty diety. There are some priests in our community who after bath, stay in wet clothes and after the prayers only they change to dried clothes. My employees informed me that they take bath once in a week.

I take a couple showers a week. I don't get that dirty and with 6 people in the hose it is a waste of water to have every single person shower every single day. In the summer we all take more showers because we don't have air conditioning in all the rooms so we get real sweaty but the rest of the year it is once or twice a week unless we get dirty for some reason.

I'm about the same. In the summer, it's really humid here, so I sometimes take 2 showers a day, but the rest of the year 2 or 3 times a week is fine. I totally think it's cultural. Americans tend to shower everyday. But Russians (my original culture) think Americans are nuts with the daily showers! I tend to agree. Unless you live in a very hot/humid environment, or you have a very sweaty/dirtying job, I just don't see the point of wasting time, wasting water, and drying out your skin.

The funny thing is I was born and raised in a family where my father took 2 showers a day (when he woke up and after he got home from work--which was a hot, sweaty job). My mom took a shower every other day. My brother used to take 2 or 3 a day sometimes. I always had to wait my turn because it never seemed like my shower was important enough. My dad always had somewhere to go and would shower before leaving the house, same as my brother. They were always in a hurry so my shower had to wait (since I had no where to go). By the time I was on my own I was used to it. When I worked I took a shower after I got home because I was so sweaty. But now I don't work. Unless I get really sweaty from cleaning or playing outside with the kids I don't shower. It really is a waste of water and we pay for our water. It isn't cheap. We found that out when our toilet started leaking. Our bill was $600 for 3 months! We split it with the daycare downstairs so we only had to pay half but $300 was still beyond our budget. The normal bill was $175 for 3 months and we paid half. Water is no longer free for many people and I refuse to waste it so that 5 people can shower once or twice a day (the baby doesn't need that many baths so I won't count her).

I think a lot has to do with culture, and how you were raised. I must take a shower every day. It's good hygene.

Maybe because they don't feel their own smell, and they don't think it's necessary to bath untill they smell bad enough

I don't do bath because I don't feel so dirty usually. I've done a shower yesterday and I feel clean today. Maybe I could wash only my feet today if they smell bad :D. I usually take a shower every week..or two times per week. In the summer I do instead shower everyday. When I was young I used to do bath...now....I prefer doing a shower because it's faster and you save much water :)
