Dying dog

Recently, my husband accidentally hit hard on the head of his father's pet dog because he was mad that the dog bit his and our son's clothes and ruined them for so many times. His mother was angry at him and we felt pity for the dog but it was just left roaming around backyard and not tied at all. Was it my husband's fault?

That is horrible, he murdered that poor dog for getting his clothes dirty.

It is not really that intentional. He was only trying to scare the dog to implement discipline.
