I, too, break out and I am 26 years old!!! I kept thinking as a teeneger that this is just part of growing up and it will go away at some point. My face doesn't break out like it used to, but I still battle acne from time to time. My regimines: I wash twice daily with a foaming cleanser. (Stay away from any that contain oil. I would recommend any under the line of Clean and Clear or Neutrogena.) My face gets oily a lot through out the day. Bad misconception is to wash your face whenever it feels dirty or oily!! Mid day if you have excess oil, blot with a dry tissue. This removes the oil but doesn't mess with your pores at all. Over washing can cause your face to be dry and cause you oil glands to work overtime. Fo a nighlty remedy of a VERY cheap acne medication....use toothpaste!! The pasty kind, not the gel kind. Apply a very small amount to each blemish right before bed. (And warn people that is what it is-toothpaste-LOL) You must use paste and not gel because the gels never dry and could get all over your pillow and in your hair. The paste forms a thin plaster that cannot be asborbed by your pores. It seals off the infected pore and reduces the swelling of the blemish. Usually 2 treatments of that in 2 consecutive nights the blemish is either gone or so small you can barely see it.

What I do is to go to a dermatologist atleast once a month to have my face cleaned. My doctor once told me that even if you put very expensive acne creams on your face and not have a regular facial, the creams will not be as effective simply because these topical creams does not penetrate the skin. This is my regimen to avoid having acne: 1. have my facial with a dermatologist once a month 2. clean/wash my face with a gentle cleanser (Dove,Olay,Cetaphil,Clinique) 3.Tone my face to remove the other dirt not washed by the facial wash. I use Humphrey's Witch Hazel Astringent 4. I moisturize (Olay total effects or Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer) By the way Witch Hazel is really a good pimple remedy.

I read somewhere that Keira Knightly uses witch hazel to keep her face smooth and flawless.

First of all i'm 19 and i never had acne, spots, pimples or have and from what my friends told me you should never use creams because you'll get more or burns on your skin so i advice you to go to a doctor and see what's wrong with you and why you still have acne at this age. I wish you luck

I'm 29 and I never had bad skin until I had children. Since my last child was born 4 and a half years ago, it's gotten worse - I have been trying to find a dermatologist that is covered by my insurance that is close enough for me to visit. I've never heard of the toothpaste remedy, I'll have to try that. You may also want to see your regular family doctor, as adult acne can be a symptom of a larger health issue - my doctor did a bunch of tests on me to check levels of hormones and stuff, all came back normal which is good but thats why I have to see a dermatologist now.

I had relatively no problems with my skin until in my 30s I started having acne. Talk about a late developer or is it delayed puberty? Anyway, I tried all the on the shelf acne medications and washes but it didn't work. I went to a GP and a skin specialist for help with the problem but it didn't do much good, even with antibiotics. Finally, I sought treatment from a beautician. I had to pay for a course of treatment which lasted about 10 weeks but the range of skin care products she used worked on my skin and from them I never had a recurrence of acne. Thank God for that.
