Why is Disturbed so disliked in the metal community?

Anytime Disturbed is mentioned on online metal sites like Blabbermouth, Metal Sludge, and so forth, as well as in Wikipedia, they are always characterized as "mallcore" and not real metal. What justifies being considered a "real metal" band?

I agree, but if you search "mallcore" which means mall music basically, on wikipedia, they have disturbed's picture. It's really angers me.

Personally, I consider Disturbed an awesome metal band. Their Sickness album is my favorite, but I really like them all. I don't know what those people are talking about, unless they think metal has to be growly singing that you can't even understand. I can't stand that stuff. Too many bands are doing that these days, and it all just starts sounding the same. Disturbed has their own style - just like it's supposed to be.

I think people just like to complain. But everybody has their favorites in music
