I recently had a worm and Trojans and the only way was to reformat windows xp. The problem I am having is every time I start the computer it comes up with a black box c;\Document-1\startm-1\programs\startup\uninst-1.exe Has encountered an illegal instruction. How do I stop this? Please help if you can

That sounds to me like there is a reference in your startup menu to a file that does not exist. Check the startup folder in the Start - Programs - Startup for a program called Uninstall. That might be the problem.

I HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME WITH WINDOWS XP.. I DOWNLOADED THE FREE VERSION OF MCAFEE AND THEN RAN THE THOROUGH CLEANUP. THIS FINDS AND FIXES REGISTRY ERRORS AND MISSING LINKS. IT MADE MINE GO AWAY HOPE THAT HELPS.

I already used a registry cleaner twice since this first happened. Thanks for the reply though
