A South Carolina man stood outside a local grocery store wearing a handmade sign with those words written on them. There was also the word "sorry" tagged on it. A judge had sentenced the man to this penance after he had illegally parked in a space reserved for the handicapped. It was certainly a preferable sentence to the standard one of 30 days in jail or a $325 fine. I have seen many abuses of handicapped parking spaces by perfectly able-bodied people. Some learn better after they have been caught. Some never learn.

I totally see red when I see it happen. I have on many occasions parked beside one with my kids and they always say loudly "Look someone is parking there that is shouldn't what about the person who needs it" A few times they have actually restarted their car and moved.

I can not tell you how many people i have seen park in a handicapped spot and when they get out of the car they seem to be perfectly fine. It really chaps my hide when people do this. There are people out there who really need those spots especially around this time of year and people who park there who are not handicapped should get a major fine!!!! Maybe even lose their license for 30 days and maybe that will teach them a lesson.

I think that's wonderful! Do people not realize that those spaces are there because they're *needed*? It boggles my mind how many people are willing to abuse handicapped parking spaces.
