Committing Suicide

I just wrote a response about depression and just half an hour ago, I got the most terrible news. An ex-colleague of mine just jumped down from the office building. I have known him sine 1999 and he was such a great guy. Doesn't play politics, hardworking, smart, good at his work, and very nice to people. But what could have led to such tragedy?

is he a married man? may be he had some family problems. otherwise he should have become unsatisfied with the office work or someone in the office.

yes, married with 2 kids. Apparently, someone in the office did mention family problem. But we will never know.

I think he has a big problem, you should try to talk to people whom he had talked before that incident. He might had confided to some of his close rinds or family members.

He is quite reserved....even his close friends aren't sure why he did it.

I now this from experience some people on the outside seem as though they love life, they are energtic, fun loving and outgoing. To use they seem to be fine and dealing with life they have a great job, friends, family, and other things but on the inside they are screaming for help they don't know what to do they deal with this inside fighting for some time until they just snap. They don't want to let there friends and family know snomething is wrong so they go about there normal life while on the inside there struggling. There could have have been tons of things that was bothering your friend he might have been having work issues, family issues, or partner issues. I am really sorry to hear about your friend. I hope you have a great day and MERRY CHRISTMAS :)

I know what you mean, sometimes, people prefer not to bring worry to people around them, so they just continue to act as it everything's ok. Merry christmas to you too!

That's tragic news. I'm so sorry to hear that. Sometime's the warning signs are everywhere, while in other cases there are no warning signs to be found.

because most often than not, we become insensitive of other's suffering especially if we see them as a jolly person and they seem normal. sometimes all the sadness and hurt are kept deep inside. and we can't even comprehend on why do people do these things. im sorry for you lost.

that's right....actually, it's tough for those who always look happy on the outside, deep inside, there could be a lot of pain, etc and to them, they will feel as if no one really understands that but in actual fact, there's never a chance for them to really open up.

That's just plain awful, I'm so sorry to hear that. Your friend may have been on some medication that you didn't know about. Who knows really, all I know is it's sad. I had a friend that killed herself. I still feel bad because I couldn't help her. I knew she had problems and needed a friend but between trying to raise my kids by myself and working all the time because I got little or no child support, we lost touch for a few years. I wish my life was more together, I'm sure I could have helped her by being a good friend.

Thanks for your response. Hey, don't feel bad about that. I know it's tough and sometimes, we want to be the leaning pillar for friends, but our lives can be quite packed. It is sad to lose a person this way but whatever you feel right now, it's not going to bring her back.

What people don't understand is that depression really is an illness! Look at the measures that some people take just because they are hurting so much, they take their own lives! I saw a post here on mylot the other day that kinda hurt my feelings, some woman thought that it would be OK to claim that depression is for people who only care about themselves or something like that? Anyways she thought that it had nothing to do with a chemical imbalance and she was quite rude with the things that she said. I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. It's unfortunate that he felt like there was no other way out..

It's always hard to understand what would cause anyone to end their life. We all deal with problems on a daily basis, but very few of us seriously entertain the idea of killing ourselves. I know these people see it as the only way out of whatever problems they are having, but it's a very permanent solution to a situation that will only be temporary.

I agree...the only pain is for the family to really deal with this. It's really sad.

Yah...you could be right...hey but if you are really feeling down, don't be, ok? I hope you will be fine. And if it's any SERIOUS DEPRESSION....need to get treated medically.

people have secrets in life.. you think hes this and hes that but really when hes privately at home he could have 10 kidnapped children in his basement.. im sorry but u have no proof that he doesnt so it might be true. When people are around others they usually tend to act different.. At home, they have tons of stuff that u would least except them to have. Trust me i could do something bad n then act nice/good to people around me.. they would have no idea that im the one who kidnapped their daughter that they telling me got kidnapped.. im actually serious, &%&$ like this happens.

Yah, we are all thinking of that too. Maybe there's no one to really talk to and it just gets bottled up and finally...can't take it anymore. We are all asking so many question why it happened but none of us will ever know.

I'm so sad to hear that. Did he leave family behind? I mean, wife and kids? Either way, that's a tragic loss, and a tragic way to die. I'll send some positive thoughts to his family, as this is supposed to be a happy time of year.
