fuel pump dodge ram 1500

my fuel pump on my truck has shut down 3 times in the last couple of months but restarts as if nothing is wrong, I do believe I have to take the fuel tank out to change the pump but i see in my manual what they describe as a leveling valve or something like that with the pump and my truck only seems to shut down when It is parked on an incline. Any advise? thanx Ray
