Seriously, how does myLot work?

As you would have already guessed, I'm a new to myLot. Apart from whatever is given on the site, how does myLot work... I mean who owns this site/community & how big can people really earn. Earning members, please be kind enough to volunteer your experiences (certainly not your earnings). Awaiting you guidance, Regards.
