old metal socket holders

June 19, 2006 12:13pm CST
My Dad had about $3,000 dollars of tools stolen out of his workshop by the people building their new home out on his property. We were talkingthe other afternoon and he mentioned that the thing that he missed most was something that he couldn't replace. His socket sets were old enough that they came in a thin metal case that had a thin bar which clasped over the top of the sockets to keep them from falling out. The sockets stood upright in the small box/case when he was working with them. Does anyone know what I am referring to and if so, can you possibly direct me to where I could find a set of these???

I am not sure if these are exactly what you are referring to, but they are what I used when I was a mechanic and they worked really well (and they are pretty reasonable). They come is various lengths and sizes as well. http://www.newmantools.com/ullman/ull6.htm
