everytime i connect my desktop computer to the imternet its very slow and at times freezes. i am using Windows XP professional. this is getting into my nerves. any of guys that might know what the problem is. i use a dial up connection amd a 56kb external modem. plaese help

It may be because you are using a dial up modem. They tend to be very slow especially when accessing pages with a lot of graphic or information that needs to be downloaded. You should run your virus scanner, defrag your computer, run an anti-spyware program, clear out all of your caches and see if that helps. Also, check the memory b/c if it is too full your computer may run slow.
