I always get my mom a nice Christmas plant that she can take care of and re-plant in the yard when the weather gets warmer. She's a great gardener.

I got my mother an alarm clock because I always forget to wake her for work. lol. It's cool though because it has a projection light to put the time up on the wall or ceiling. My kids were so jealous. hehe.
