Do You Like Self Checkouts ?

I normally like using the self check outs. I can scan the products faster than most cashiers. The only problem I have had is on things that are heavy. For some reason when you have heavy or large items then it stops for a cashier to assist you. This is the only problem I have had. Do you prefer a cashier or self checkout?

I love self check out. That is, until you get some idiot who doesn't know how to scan items and stands there looking lost. Scan it and go. Barcode buddy! Yeah, and I hate people who scan slowly. The whole point of self check out is to save time! I think some people should be banned from self check out.

I know what you mean. When I was finishing my Christmas shopping the lady in front of me was a real pain. She would dig through her cart to find certain items to scan. I think she only had so much money and was scanning the things she wanted most first. I don't know. I moved to a different lane she was taking so long.

as a shopper, I love the self-checkouts..that because I was once a cashier in a supermarket, so I know how annoying it can be to have to wait for someone to do something..so I just use the self-scan to move things along quicker..as a cashier, there are people who are basically cashiers who are to supervise the self-check area..those people were the luckiest in the store.they didnt have to do much of anything!

Yes, I have worked as a cashier also. Cashiers appreciate the self check outs. That way people don't have to wait in line. If they are in a hurry they can use the self checkout.

I prefer a cashier as at times I am absent minded and pay more or less so cashier reminds me.

Yes, that could be a problem. You are lucky to get honest cashiers.

I love the self checkouts. They are quick and easy to use.And the only problem I have is that the bag area is not that big and you can't continue on if you remove a full bag to put in your cart everything has to stay on that little area. But other than that I think it is the way to go.

The ones here will let you remove a bag as you go. I usually sack the items and put them in the cart while my husband scans. Works great for us.

I did not like them at first, but they are much faster, I do prefer a bagger if I can get one,but the problem there is if you have a bad bagger, it is harder to monitor them if you are scanning. Because so many of the baggers have no common sense, they will just throw your stuff around. It really is ridiculous that you have to pay money, scan your own groceries, and bag them if you want to get them home in good condition.I really don't like my fruit bagged in with canned goods or my chips or other fragile items. Just so the store can make big bucks. Customer service is going down the tubes everywhere.

Yes customer service isn't as good as it used to be. That is one reason I like to do it myself. My husband and I shop together so while one scans the other one bags. Works out perfectly and there are no smashed or broke items. I find it less stressful to do it myself.

Self checkout! Except when the coupon bin is full or jams when I put coupons in.

The self checkouts are nice when you have very few items. You don't have to wait to get out of the store.

I love them. I hate waiting in lines. I always get behind someone who is having the cashier get all kinds of price checks. Or something else that takes for ever.

I like the self checkouts as a rule. The only thing is sometimes they get confused when the item is light and it doesn't think you've placed it in the bag. Most of the time it is much easier and faster though :)

I have only used self-checkouts twice. Once at Wal-Mart, and that went really well. The other time was at a grocery store and it was OK, but I had a lot of items and I wasn't used to checking myself out. I guess a lot of people are in the same boat, because that store closed down awhile ago.

They only had self checkouts? The stores here have both. I used to be a cashier so I am fast at checking out. I love them. I use them at Walmart and Lowes.

I really don't have a problem with self check outs. Sometimes I use self check out if I only have a few items and feel that I can get it done quicker myself. However, if I have a lot of items, and items that may need special things for, I'll use a cashier to make sure everything works out.
