With all the dangers associated with UV exposure now common knowledge why would anyone want to go to one? Do you go to tanning salons? I've never tried one, but I have friends that do.

I had been going for awhile back in 1998 and 1999 because I like to be tan and I also loved how relaxing the tanning beds were. I listened to music and basked in the warmth until the timer went off, and that was such a disappointment when the tanning bed shut itself off at the end of a session. One time I went while on doxycycline which is a no-no. It felt like someone was spritzing ice-cold water on my tummy. Also, if you have your fingernails airbrushed in a french manicure the tanning bed lights will turn the white part of your painted nails yellow.

Those are great tips! Thank you! I wonder if they might be beneficial to those suffering SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder??? www.mentalhealth.com/book/p40-sad.html A lot of people say they are relaxing. Still they're not for me.

I have never gone to such a thing, i am a natural one. I have some friends too that visit such salons, they get nice but not naturally. Associating to the UV exposure is not a good thing and it is unwealhy. This is the thing for which i am not paying visits to such salons. Good luck!

Besides, you look like this! - tanning bed girl
I went once, as part of a relaxation package. Got a full massage and then laid in the tanning bed for a bit, just to relax on a cold winter day. It was wonderful all together but I'd never do the tanning regularly. I think to use as a relaxation technique once in a blue moon would be ok, but not all the time to tan. Personally, I've conquered cancer enough! I don't push the limits! lol

Pale is the new Tan - T-Shirt from Noisebot
No! And I never will. I don't see the appeal, frankly. I think pale skin looks just as goos as tanned, and it doesn't cause all the health issues. Not to mention that tanning, by definition, is damaging to your skin.

I use to tan all of the time and I really miss it. Even though UV rays aren't good for you, tanning is one of the most relaxing things you can do and you end up a beautiful tan color without having to layout in the sun for hours. You can get a nice deep tan with little maintaince while tanning in moderation. I think tanning non-stop every day is not healthy but once or twice a week and if you keep your skin mosturized you are okay.
