Desensitized?

Everyday I watch TV or read the paper, and all I hear about are the crazy things that go on! So we need to change our ways? I was just watching this story about how a few people died in a car accident... I was thinking about how little I cared, sure it's a tragic thing that they died, but in the end I'm not losing sleep over it! Does that make me a bad person? Is our population desensitized from all of the bad stuff that happens on a regular basis?
