The concept of God,has a lot of psychology behind it.In olden days,people were insecure against natural calmities(they are now too),but did not know the reason for the same or how to counter them.
The belief,in a being,that is benevolent,is psychologically,good,as it instills in a person positive thoughts and ,actions.These lead to OPTIMISM,which is very much required for a person,throughout his/her life.
The person is also socially accepted.
