If you spend 50-60 dollars upfront to buy a video game, why should you have to pay 30 bucks every two months to play it? I understand the costs of bandwith etc..but there are millions of players out there! I just, I guess I won't get it...because I mean IF you pay that much to buy a game, why should you have to pay to play it?

The monthly cost for the game pays for all the continuous updated you get and the perks of interacting with outher players live. What game are you playing that costs $30? The most I have ever spent to play a game online is $15/month. Right now I am playing Guild Wars. I got the main game from Wal-Mart for about $35 and you play online for free. There are 2 expansions for the game. I think they are $40 each since they are fairly new.

you have to pay because it is only a online game and they must support their surver because it takes a powerfull one. In one server, their is like 10 000 people. And there are plenty of servers.
