Do you think people should get warnings before getting banned on myLot?

Kind of like 3 strikes, you're out! Do you know what I mean? I just noticed a few people on my friend list have been banned. All their discussions have been deleted, which tells me they've been kicked out of here. I don't believe they've been banned because of repeated discussions. They probably got banned for speaking their mind, which I don't feel is right. But it would really anger me if I got banned with having my face picture up. I just put it up again today, and now I'm thinking of taking it down. The people who've been banned still have their pictures up, and I don't think it's fair. What do you think? Shouldn't people get warnings before getting banned? This way, they know what they've done wrong, and can try to improve in the future. And if they're gonna be banned, shouldn't their pictures on their profile be deleted along with their discussions?

Of course people should get warned, it is not fair just to kick someone out for a one time offense, that might not even be an offense.

Sorry to hear your friend got banned. Am I missing something? I thought mylot was a forum where we can express ourselves. As long as we don't threaten or harrass other members. Am I wrong?

canadabis1, my friend, I respect your opinion. I'm often telling people to read the FAQ and guidelines, but there are people on my list (now 4) that I believe got banned for not violating the rules. Now I'm freaking out, wondering if I'll get banned for stating my opinion. It sucks butt!

yeah, i definitely think we should get warnings, and a description of what we did. not sure if thats what they do, or they say they do, but it should be that way. also, as far as their pics, which goes along with their accts, if they're going to be banned, their acct should be taken off, and if thats not the case, i may re-think about my pic being up. very good thought rawpoet.

Thanks, my friend. I'm glad you agree. I would seriously consider taking your pic down. Once you're banned, you'll never be able to delete it.

of course i feel they should be warned before getting banned. people should know the reason why they get kicked out of someplace. but who knows, maybe they do get warned. from what i've read it says to take all warnings from myLot seriously, so on that note i would asume myLot does warn users before getting banned.

What we seem to be getting are messages here from myLot when they upgrade, change something, add another rule, or give reminders about the rules. Then there's a link to the discussion about it afterwards. What about those complaining they can barely understand English on myLot? There were a few discussions about it today. If they can't understand English, should they be here? And if they screw up, should they be booted out of here? Or should myLot get a translator to be able to communicate to these people a little better. And shouldn't myLot contact the person who writes them about people threatening and harrassing? Of course they should, but apparently it's not happening. Sorry, I guess I'm just thinking out loud here. Not really addressing it to you. But I do know there are a lot of people that SHOULD be booted where others shouldn't be.

One warning should be enough. In that warning, specifics to what they did wrong, and links to the guidelines and all other info that is readily available here. This way, they can read all other issues they need to avoid, so after the warning they have no more excuses, hence the need for only one warning. Personally, I think the majority that get banned know what they are doing, know they are scamming the system. I'm sure the moderators here are busy enough, they shouldn't have to deal with the same people and problems more than once. Just my opinion. What are you talking about when you say "my face picture"? Like a picture of your face as your avatar? Why would you get banned for that? Jim

I had my face picture up yesterday, and knowing some of my friends got banned, their pictures and avatars are still up. I'd be pretty mad if that were to happen to me - not being able to delete my face picture. If they're going to ban someone, the profile should be completely deleted in my opinion.

As far as I know you do receive a warning(s) - I remember seeing in the FAQs or something a message along the lines of take any warnings you receive seriously or something like that - I can't remember where it was exactly though.

I believe I've got the FAQ down pretty good, but it seems myLot isn't keeping their end of the deal. Stick around for a while and find out. A lot of people are getting upset by this, and I even saw some sites putting down myLot - giving people warnings not to come here. Right now I'm taking my picture down. I could be banned for speaking my opinion, and that makes me angry!

I think the members should be given the warning so even they get the fare chance to change and not repeate the mistake again. But there are many members which are playing with this community by just spamming which include copy & pasting others topic or content from other site, Copying others discussion, etc. If this is the case how will mylot bare this.

I guess they should but the should also read the terms and the Guidelines to be honest with you and then they know what they can and can't do

I think they should warn ppl before banning them from My Lot. Sometimes we could be writing things that we think are ok with the guidelines, only to find our account banned the next day. With warnings, at least the ppl will know what they did wrong and not do it again.

Yes I think that mylot should give warnings and the 3 strike or your out type of thing and if that does not work then they should start taking pictures or posting that, that person put. So that way that person who violates the rules knows that mylot is being serious about this.

yeah, definitely! i think they have to justify why the hell are they going to banned such a member. its fair enough if they wil give you the right reasons. and i think if they will continue doing that of deleting a member without warnign then it only means the freedom of speech is gone! its like a martial law.

Of course I believe they should be warned! Especially in cases where it's not for posting "what color are your eyes" discussions or breaking any posting rules.

Warning - Warning sign
Yes, I think it would be a good idea to get a warning. I'm sure people break the rules without knowing.

Happy Holidays - Christmas winter scent
I think a warning would be an excellent idea. The discussion deleted, a message from myLot as to what was done wrong would help some of the new ones realize that they have to be carefull what they post. I have seen some excellent discussions on here disappear because of the bashing of others back and forth. I wish just those posts could be removed and the discussion continue. But what usually happens is the person who started the discussion usually reacts with harsh words and put downs and we lose the whole discussion. But I have to admit, myLot has went through tremendous changes since I started posting on their site.

If you know the rules and still get banned it's your own fault. It's like speeding : if you're caught, you get a ticket, not a warning first ...

Yes, i think that the people should get warnings before getting banned from here, first of all many people dont know what is good and whats not its good and second in order to learn from mylot so its good to receive these warnings before getting banned, have a great day on mylot!

I think a warning is fair, because if someone haves a huge postcount and was drunken some day and posted anything witch is not alloud with the terms of myLot and see he got banned is very hard. I think you should warn. People often learn from a warning!
19 Dec 06
yeah i totally agree, a warning system should be in place.
