Why are the non-smokers having such a go at the Smokers all the time Why can't they just be left alone, all you see is about smokers this and smokers that , nothing about drug Takers or Drinkers I don't drink and I get disgusted with People when they drink and make a fool of themselves but I don't have a go about it all the time I would like to go out and having to smell the breath of drunken People about me but I am not in here all the time complaining about it So please leave it out about the Smoking we are not committing a crime Sorry to vent but I am so fed up seeing Discussions about why do you smoke, quit Smoking, nice that they have stopped the Smoking in Public and all that rubbish Everybody to their own is what I say I am quitting because I am forced to, but I will not be going around condeming People for smoking So please stop People find something else to talk about and not victimize the Smokers as that is what is happening

Because its all over tv. Personally their dang cars will kill them first if not by accident, then by the emmissions the things put out. Their cars are a thousand times more deadly then even standing near someone for 10 freakn minutes while they smoke. It's rediculous and moronic if you ask me!

no smoking - no smoking
well reason y non-smokers like me dnt go behinf drig-addicts or drunkanrds is tht when they drink, they dnt jeopardize the life of ppl around them, atleats not directly... but what abt u smokers? u force us to being passive smokers... passive smoking is said to have more damaging effects than active smoking... y shud we die over wat ur doing? so we come and have a go at u ppl... if u want to have so much smoke in ur life, y dont u just go put ur head in a chimney.... aint it the same ting?

Reminds me of when I asked someone to go somewhere else to smoke because you are affecting people around you. The answer that came back was 'well why don't you find somewhwere else then I won't affect you'.

So sorry. BUt I got alergic with smoke. I don;t ask smokers to stop their habit. It is their decicion. every ppl have their own opinion about health. But 1 thing that I can accept from smokers. When they smoke at public area. I caugh loudly and can;t breath. But they still smoke in front of me. Can U imagine they smoke at restaurant which it room with AC. And smoke at bus ot halte near from me. I ask politely hope they stop smoke. BUt they ignore me. I have aunty. She also smokers. But she NEVER smoke at public area. I don;t blame her. She addict with it. Every time she want to smoke, she go to upstairs and smoke there (where no body can smell her smoke) I think if all smokers habit like her, it will be great. I know my aunt was said that after eat smokers mouth feel biter if not smoke. But she keep try to ignore it and eat candy until she arrive at home and smoke at her place. Hope U also smokers like my aunty.... not smokers who make me have fever like now (I always got fever if I smell smoke)

Well for one thing when others drank it usually doesnt affect our health (and its already illegal in most countries to drink in public, aside from bars. When people smoke in public it affects everyone's health.

I understand the conversations about second hand smoke and how it affects non-smokers. Therefore, if they want to make public buildings (courthouses, city hall, etc.) smoke-free, I completely concur. However, when they infringe on the rights of private businesses is where I feel they have gone wrong. They say that they want to make restaurants smoke-free because of the workers. Well, I'm sorry, but you don't have a God-given right to work somewhere. If you come to a restaurant for a job interview and you don't want to be around smoke, that should be one of your questions. And if they allow smoke, it is your choice whether to be employed. My mother-in-law owned a restaurant and swore that she would shut the doors before anyone told her she couldn't smoke in her own business. And I agree. There is some validity to curtailing smoking in public but the government has been allowed to go WAY OVERBOARD.

I'm an ex-smoker and feel I have the right to voice my opinion on smoking any where I want. I, personally, am paying for having smoked. I now have asthma and chronic bronchitis. If it's going off on smokers because I tell them the truth about what smoking will do to them then I'm guilty as charged.

Good post Gabs. I'm a smoker and I find that 90% of those who complain about smokers polluting their indoor breathing space are those who own cars, and choke me when I'm walking OUTside, especially when I'm shopping. It's high time they got off their soap boxes and stopped to think what they're doing to the environment. Carbon dioxide emissions have been proven to cause asthma, which is a respiratory problem, and that's just for starters. So, as Gabs says... GIVE US A BREAK. You can always use a no-smoking area, and quit your grumbling. Besides which, most smokers, if like me, will consider your comfort more and avoid making you uncomfortable if you just leave them alone. Well said Gabs!!!

Thanks Darkwing and I will always support the Smokers even though today I have put my first Patch on as I am getting worse with my Illness so I have to say Goodbye to them or say Goodbye to me in a few Years as in about 6 years I do not want to quit but I have to it was all I had Left in a sense since being made Disabled I had to stop everything else like working walking to far doing things that I have done all my Life But I will always support the Smokers as no one has a right to condemn them So wish me luck

Well, I'm not against smokers. I just don't like those people who smoke around me and doesnt even care that I'm a non-smoker and they're in a non-smoking area. If I walk in an area where I see a smoking sign I just go someplace else.

actually, there are people who get lung cancer from second hand smoke.. never smoked a day in their lives. of course there are also people who get lung cancer from inhaling other carcinogens. but i don't think it's right to bash somebody because they care about their own health- be they "paranoid" or not. that's just wrong.

I aggree with you, and I feel that a lot of the time it's the smokers that have stopped smoking that are the worst offenders. Smoking unlike drunk driving does not kill people, the alchoho; in the person kills people. If I visit a non smokers house, I take it outside out of respect to the person I'm visiting, I don't need to be told to give up, especially if they're drinking at the time. In my opinion, it's a case of live and let live, not live and nag.

Thank god someone finally posted this. i'm so sick of people hating me because I smoke, I respect their non-smoking public places and all of that because I do agree with them on why should they suffer from second hand smoke, but do they also realize that just breathing the air can cause the same thing? Pollution is way worse! But instead of seeing people like me who support them they just want to hate all smokers! It just pisses me off! I think if they are going to ban the smoking, then why should they stop there? they need to also start banning industries, factories, fast food, red meats, drinking, caffenine, and let's not forget to make all overweight people exercise! Gosh people, look at your own faults before you start critizing everyone else. Fix yourself then worry about other people.

I am a non-smoker. I don't go around telling people not to smoke, because they already know it's not a healthy habit. They're not going to quit just because I tell them to, so it's rediculous to bother anyway. My problem is that as much as it your right to smoke, it also my right to breathe clean air. And I don't think there are enough smokers who give a sh*t about that fact. No offense. :)

well one of the results of this post has been that most smokers will gang together to defend their rights. so how about we knock on all those posts that were annoying us so much saying that we smokers should die and bang them down. show thewm that smokers have voices, albeit a bit gruff

LOL "albeit a bit gruff" heh heh :) my sister in law - known her since she was about 20-22 yrs old. she has one of the deepest, gruffiest voices I know. Yup.. she's a smoker. LOL Some people think it's pretty sexy, though. :D

I agree 100 percent Gabs. I am a smoker but i refuse to be a victum. I wont go to non smoking establishments. If that means i have to order take out the so be it. I refuse to be vicimized. So i will just remove myself from those situations. Pretty soon i will be living like a hermit.
