What do you think of your parents' music?

Has the music that your parents listened to influenced you in any way? Do you completely reject their music? Or have you found that you really enjoy what they listen to? (If you enjoy it, is it a secret? Or are you proud of it?)
My dad grew up with major rock influence- Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, etc. He started playing guitar at the age of 9. My mom on the other hand grew up listening to Motown, and was big into dancing. As a result, I enjoy a HUGE array of musical genres- classical, reggae, R&B, some rap (though I'm very selective about it), heavy metal, alternative, pop, Celtic... the only music I can't stand is most of today's country music, and hard core rap (in general). I try to be open minded, and enjoy almost anything with a good guitar riff and drum beat. So I thank my parents for giving me a real appreciation for music!

Classical music is so relaxing. I played it for both my children during their first 2-3 years of life. Every night at bed time, I have their radio on, and I like to have it on the classical radio station.

For the most part, I'm not ashamed to admit that I listen to my parent's tunes! I grew up around country music, it was played in our house, in the car, on the patio..everywhere! I will listen to almost any kind of music (aside from rap) but my preference is always country. My dad prefers the realllllly old country...like Charlie Pride...LOL. I'm not into that stuff so luckily he didn't listen to that stuff around me (probably because the radio stations around here only play the modern stuff).

I actually liked some of the country music from the 70's and early 80's. Like "Elvira" by the Oak ridge boys.

My mom listened to the platters, englebird humperdink, Tom Jones,Sinatra....and at the time I was growing up in the Beatle era.
now that I have gotten older I do have an appreciation for more of that music....probably because I have taken the time to listen to it. I do have many memories of my mom singing to it all throughout the years.

My grandmother listened to a lot of that stuff. I probably don't have a great appreciation for it, but my husband said he would like to add to our cd collection with some of these artists' greatest hits.
