Do You Feel Used in Life?

Do sometimes wonder if you were put on Earth to be used by other people? Do you feel that everyone uses you and that life is not yours? Do people take you for granted for example and treat you like a doormat?

Actually, there are many times that I do feel used. But I also know I do it to myself. I allow myself to be used. So...I don't think I have the right to feel bitter about it. My partner uses me. He sees me as the person that stays home with the kids so he doesn't step in to help parent unless I ask him to help. I lost a friend because she was using me as a sitter because she didn't want to be a mother and I finally spoke up for myself. I have been used to listen to people's woes, but if I have no one to talk to, I have to suffer in silence because there is no one to listen to me in turn. My sister has used me for a bed and breakfast. And even though I know it was not her intention, not sticking around after breakfast sure does make a person feel used. My rebellious teenager is often breaking house rules...because he is just in that phase of his life...but when he wants help or something, he will use my love for him to get it. I am sure I could go on. But to make it short, yes, I often feel used. And have also felt like a doormat when I just thought I was being a friend. I learn from these experiences and hopefully with time, it will happen less often.

Thank you for your informative response. It's difficult to deal with being used when its from your own family as it's a total different ball game.

Yes I do, on the other hand though I believe that is the way we are supposed to feel. I believe we are not here for ourselves at all. We are here to serve and help others first. In helping others we are in turn rewarded. What goes around comes around. If everyone realized this, the entire world would be a better place.

No I cant say they do. If they did I would have to let them know how I felt about it. If you dont speak up then yes people tend to walk all over you.

It's learning to be assertive! I tend to switch from being passive to aggressive which isn't helpful! Thanks for your response.
