Do you think they are safe? Some people I know don't. Some say you need to have certain things on your computer or you may download a file that can hurt your system. What do you think?

What do you mean by the "genuine" MS OS users? I mean as opposed to what?

i think its good i mean if its from Mircrsoft, its their updates, i allow them. its one of the ways i can keep my computer safe. i haven't heard anything negative about the automatic updates and everything. its more of things i download myself that cause problems, like active X and things, those cause some problems on some sites.
