can someone reccomend a good profession for a middle-age guy to persue?

Not knowing what your skills are, my first thought was of you finding something you are passionate about and find a way to make some money doing that. Start a business however that one I suggest doing while working for someone else. Find a need in the area you wish to live or are living in and fill it and hopefully you can get paid for that. teaching would be a good one, if you are qualified to teach, that is. otherwise, identify your strengths and your weaknesses, and start from there.
