2.1 or 5.1 channel

i have no idea why it is called so and when it is called can you tell me please i have 2 speakers and a subwoofer what is it called and what setting do i keep in the computer

You have a 2.1 system i.e 2 satteltite speakers and a woofer. I have 4.1 speaker system i.e. 4 sattelites and a woofer.You can keep your computer settings to stero speakers.

Two speakers means you have 2, and the subwoofer is the .1. Keep your computer at 2.1. 5.1 is five speakers and a subwoofer. with the 5 speakers being front left, center, front right, rear left and rear right. 2.1 is front left, front right.
