My kids just cannot get along.. HEADACHE!!

I have two wonderful kids. A boy and a girl. They are only 1 year apart. They just cannot agree on anything. As a mother I tried to be fair as much as possible but it always back fires me as being favors. Each of them will claim I favor the other and yet I believe I was always fair. The one that make me headache was when each of them starts quarrelling they will wish one of them never existing or died in the horrible accident. They refused to be seen together. Such remark was too hard for me to swallow. As a mother I believe I gave all the love and support they need and I raise them to be humble and to respect each other. They have no problem acting it with other people but not to each other. Any of you have this kind of headache or any advice on how to make them at least care for each other.
