A case of child marriage. At 14, Ruchi - a fifth standard topper from India - was married off to a physically challenged Amit. This year, in June, 17-year-old Ruchi was divorced and thrown out of her in-laws' house. With her father refusing to take her back, Ruchi had nowhere to go. The police could not help the girl, as it seemed a case of divorce on mutual consent. Ruchi filed a petition in the High Court challenging her marriage and divorce.
