Terrorism is a term used to describe violence or other harmful acts committed (or threatened) against civilians by groups or persons for political, nationalist, or religious goals. As a type of unconventional warfare, terrorism means to weaken or supplant existing political landscapes through capitulation, acquiescence, or radicalization, as opposed to subversion or direct military action. "Terrorist attacks" usually are characterized as "indiscriminate", the "targeting of civilians", or as executed "with disregard for human life". The term "terrorism" often is used to assert that the enemy's political violence is immoral, wanton, and unjustified. Per the most common definition of terrorism — typically used by states, academics, counter-terrorism experts, and civil, non-governmental organizations —, "terrorists" are actors who do not belong to any recognized armed forces or who don't abide the laws of war, and who, therefore, are regarded as "rogue actors". Those labelled "terrorists" rarely identify themselves so and, instead, typically use terms referring to their ideological or ethnic struggle, such as: separatist, freedom fighter, liberator, revolutionary, vigilante, militant, paramilitary, guerrilla, rebel, jihadi or mujaheddin, or fedayeen, or any similar-meaning word in other languages. Terrorism has been used by a broad array of political organizations in furthering their objectives; both right-wing and left-wing political parties, nationalistic, and religious groups, revolutionaries and ruling governments.[1] Some persons and governments believe that the term "Terrorism", as defined in dictionaries, now has a negative connotation, under the theory that a person who attacks the civilian population is, instead, a militant, regardless of the status of the victims of terrorism.

Terrorists are everywhere but if we let them alter how we live for fear of being attacked then they have accomplished what they set out to do. They are extremists and do not think the way we do. Unfortunately there are terrorists that are American also. They are not all from other countries or of other nationalities.

I think terrorism is the result of wrong ideologies and it promotes stupidity, because there are other better solutions for political, religious, nationalist etc problems then terrorism! I am against terrorism but also I don't agree with the amricans, because they use "the fight against terrorism" just for surface, in reality they are after their own needs natural resources and onther things like world domination etc! The americans are using big engins for their vahicles and are consuming a lot comparative to the european vehicles, that's why they need petrol now! What a shame! :-

While we are in this world, you can't stop terrorism. Whether you belong to a sect or not. It all started in heaven ...the battle of Lucifer and Michael, the archangel ( If you are christian you must know this). Terrorism can't solved through resolutions, bills or laws. It will be solved soon.....the end of the world.

the calculated use of violence (or threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear xx

Terrorism kills comparatively few people. Look at the number of deaths from preventable disease, from auto accidents, from smoking - they number in the hundreds of thousands. Terrorism kills less than one percent of that number. Terrorism works because it scares people. Talking about it as being "the most dangerous threat" only encourages that kind of fear.

I can't speak for anyone else, but when I feel threatened and marginalised at the same time, that's when I think "terrorist" thoughts. I regard terrorism as the most extreme of the means that people use to obtain justice, not a form of extremism in itself. But of course anyone who subscribes to anything that gets labelled extremist (a very culturally-loaded word - what is extremist in one culture can be mainstream in another) has a higher likelihood of feeling threatened and marginalised, so by that logic extremists are more likely to resort to terrorism. It is one of the biggest threats of this decade to our nation and should be a top priority of our government It is threatening, but there is not much we can do about it- so why spend time and energy worrying about it It is as important as any other issue being tackled in our nation and deserves equal/ less attention as said issues It is not really much of a threat to America anymore; the threat of terrorism is exaggerated by the government/media I am agree with the assertion of computer security expert Dean Turner of the Calgary-based company Security Focus that cyber-terrorism. It a very big threat to the Internet

Terrorism is rampant in the world. Global terrorism is forcing the civilised world to unite to fight this global menace. After 9/11 attacks in america the world realises how grave the problem is. Be the violence in middle east, sporadic attacks in europe in london, attacks in russia, afghanistan, iraq, and other parts of world icluding India. In India we have been facing terrorist attacks from pakistam sponsored terroist groups who have been blacklisted by US and europe too, creating problems in kashmir, and parts of india. Be it the parliament attack in India, new delhi attack in shopping centers, mumbai attacks or other parts of India. terrorists adn fundamentalist forces or say fanactics wants to destabilise the country and propagate their brand of intolearnce, hatred and fear in the minds of people by killing innocent civilians.
