Is slashdot.org the best site for geeks ?

Yes there are a few other quality sites out there: 1. Wired News (http://www.wirednews.com) 2. Digg.com They are quality, but I still like Slashdot the most.

I know of digg.com, and reddit.com, and I am sure there are other similar websites. But what I like about slashdot is that they have refrained from delving to a "user rules all" system of promoting articles. They may fail to stop dupes or provide interesting stories (and sometimes fail spectacularly) every now and then, but editors give it structure. Also, the userbase seems more mature and better informed than either digg or reddit. If digg and slashdot have the same story, I'm reading slashdot's comments to learn something I didn't already know.
