Do you believe in cremation of the dead?

When I die I have asked that my body be donated for the organs and when done, cremate me. My body is just a container, not the real me. How do you prefer to be handled at death?

I didn't always believe in cremation as it was against my religion. However, I am not so religous now, and I have expressed a wish that I be cremated when my time comes. I hate the thoughts of being buried under the ground.

My reasoning is that it is truly so much cheaper and why worry about the cost of it all... take the cheap way out! lol

I would like to handle it the same way as you, also think the same, body is just a container.

I have requested to be cremated, I have no family left so I feel this is the best way and then just be scattered somewhere, I love McDonalds restaurant so much I usually joke that I would like my ashes scattered over a maccas...hahahahah:)

i really don't believe in burying or cremating our body...if we have not lived a useful life,at least we could be useful after we die by donating our organs... or we can donate the body to the medical college where the students could utilize for study purposes...

That's a good idea. I am a donor for sure but the rest of me I am having cremated. Well, I hope to. LOL I have no say in it in the end so I guess I'll just let them all know what I'd like!

I think that cremation is right for the people who prefer it. Myself, I'll prefer to be buried just because the thought of burning scares me. I know being buried isn't much better but still, it sounds a little better to me.

I agree with your thoughts on this. If any of my body parts could be used in donation I am all for that and my loved ones know it. I also wish to be cremated for much the same reasons you've stated in this discussion.

You know, I hadn't really thought of it. I just pray that I'll make it into heaven. I know that the body is just a vessel and once life expires then it has no use for anything except for as you say, donating what you can to have others live. My mother wants to be cremated and have me keep her with me in my home. It freaks Mark out and he told me no way but I couldn't break her heart and tell her that. I'll figure out someway to have her with me, if that's what she wants; otherwise I may spread her ashes over the ocean. She loves it.
