Do you use People PC, Earthlink etc? Are these companies trustworthy? Currently I have AOL which is like $30/month, I'm thinking of switching to high-speed but had a really hard time getting my DSL hooked up and it never worked and I don't have cable. What are your recommendations?

I have People PC and I have now problem with them. It is about $11.00 a month. Also I have tried Netscape and it is anywhere from $6.95/mo to $9.95/mo they were ok also. SO I guess it up to what you prefer

My problem with People PC is that they charge for tech support.

If you live in the south, you can try bellsouth.net. I have had them for a couple of years. I started with DSL lite for like $25 per month. I upgraded to dsl ultra because my sons do a lot of online gaming. I never had an increase in price either, I used to have AOL and it seemed like evry couple of months the bill was higher.

I am starting to get fed up with AOL. It's slow, they charge my cc on wierd days and any time I try to cancel anything with them, I get a million phone calls (like when I quit my AOL Music) and they are begging me back. Here is what I need, maybe someone can suggest a good company? I need to be able to download programs for class, do research, listen to music, and that's about it. I need something that works with Java and can run large files.

Never used People PC, I have used earthlink dial up and it is ok but not as good as DSL or Cable. AOL I have had I would not pay that amount again unless they come with highspeed hook up's.

That's true, and it doesn't unfortunately. I pay $25.90 + $5.00 for AOL Call Alert (it tells me when I have calls since I have dial-up). I want something I can use that is fast enuf to get my homework done, a lot is research on the 'net so it takes forever with this da*n dial-up.
