There was an incident in South Carolina where a biker was filling his bike with gas but at the same time was luring young children to come over to him and look at a stuffed Rudolph. The next thing they knew he was driving off with a 8 year old girl that was someone elses child. Fortunately the father chased him down and was able to get his daughter back. You can read more at the link below. We should be careful and not trust people dressed up like Santa with our children alone. Thank goodness the girl was alright and thank goodness for the father who saved her. http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/12/19/bad.santa.ap/index.html

We certainly do not know what people are thinking of these days but I would be a bit hesistant to let my child be alone with a santa or anyone that I do not know. Glad that nobody got hurt and that this guy will be in jail.

Wow! can you imagine letting your child go see Santa because he is having to get gas too! You child begs and begs you to let her go see Santa while you get gas and then next thing you know, Santa is kidnapping your child?!?!?! I would have to chase him down also!!!! I can't believe that father didn't attack that man. I mean, I know he was more concerned about getting his daughter back...but once I had my daughter safe, I don't think I could resist hitting him! I am very glad to read thought that the police did catch him! So now, no matter how many times your child begs to see Santa at the gas station, we are going to have to make up a reason as to why not. Thanks bad Santa! grrrr

It is amazing what sick people will do. Thank goodness the father saw it, and was able to stop him from taking her. You always have to keep your eyes open and know where your children are at all times. Thanks for posting this.

I'm sorry this happened but happy to hear that it had a happy ending. There are so many disgusting people out there who are willing to go so far in order to lure kids or anyone really. Sick!! These people need to be hunted down, locked up with the key thrown away!

He really does look like a Santa but his behavior is inexcusable and deserves to rot in jail for kidnapping that poor girl and scarying her family like that.

This is the first I heard about. Some people are sick. Its pretty sad when you can't trust anyone anymore. I am glad the child was returned but can you imagine what that poor child must be thinking. She will probably have a lot of trust issues, don't you think?

I agree that the child will have a hard time trusting people, especially if they are dressed up like someone that we admire or look forward to seeing. I feel sorry for the girl but am glad that the creep got caught and will be in jail.

I saw this on the news last night. I have a feeling that there's more to this,as they did release "santa" from jail. He had made a statement as well that he always gave children rides on his motorcycle while dressed as santa at this time of year. The questions I have may not make you happy to read them, but complete immediate persecution without all the facts would be horrendous. I question why the dad would allow his daughter to just go up to someone dressed as santa unless in a controlled environment such as a mall or store for pictures. I question why he stood there watching as his daughter hopped on a motorcycle or side car car with a man. I question, why,if the man is so dangerous, the police allowed him to leave immediately after picking him up and questioning him. Something seems fishy to me about all of this.

Parents should not trust strangers around their children and should keep an eye out for what is going on. I would not allow my child to get on a bike with a stranger no matter what he says or does. I still think he is wrong and should be in jail. We don't know if he is telling the truth or if he is lying. The dad went after him thinking he was kidnapping his child so the Santa is still wrong in my opinion and sick.

I said it once Ill say it again. Sick animals that prey on innocent trusting little kids should be shot and buried no questions asked. Its unimagineable that someone could even do hurtful or sick and perverted things to a child. At least the daughter survived with no real trauma done to her.

It seems the preverts get more inventive every year... Gone are the days when Holloween was a neighborhood event...too many children were poisoned or found ground glass or razor blade pieces in candy and fruit... Gone now is the image of Santa being a benign fellow with a heart of gold... Is it just me or is it the media showing us more and more of such events? Or is there really a larger percentage of the population who do such things?
