SG-1 without Jack O'Neill: the end of an era

I realize that this discussion is a bit late, but I've only been recently introduced to the world of stargate geekdom by my friend Gen. I loved the early seasons, but quickly lost interest in the latest ones. Sure the technology and the plot may have improved, but the missing ingredient is Jack O'Neill. It's not just the same without his dry wit.

I agree. The combination of Jack, Tealc, Daniel and Carter all worked well together. Mitchell is ok but he doesn't fit as well as O'Neill. I think Mitchell would be better on Stargate Atlantis.

Mitchell's character is too contrived. His humor is a cheap imitation of O'Neill's. It's sad, really.

Jack balances the team well. Without him there is a gaping hole in the team. You can feel that something is missing.

StarGate is a pretty cool show. Awesome concept for space travel. O'Neill is definitely a unique character. I have enjoy him greatly. He can play so dumb at times and just so we know he isn't they have to have those times that he says something really intellegent and everyone is in shock. I always look forward to new episodes and I don't mind watching reruns.

I heard that they are going to come out with a new Stargate movie. I'm hoping O'Neil is in it.

I was really introduced to the show last year by my brother. I've enjoyed it and seen several of the earlier ones. I happen to like Jack as well and think that he added quite a bit to the show. It's still good but not as good as it was when he was on there all the time.

I guess their are quite a few people who agree with you since they are canning the show at the end of the season. I was really getting into the whole Ori storline myself...

For me it was the opposite. I had a really hard time getting into the series at first but my Mom was a total addict of the show so slowly I started watching it. It really caught my interest when Claudia Black was a guest star on the show. Then Ben Browder came on board and Claudia become a cast member too. Let's just say after that, I never missed an episode. Don't get me wrong, I do like the character of Jack but just really enjoyed the show more when Claudia and Ben came on.

na Jack was a great part of the show.. Jack, Carter, Teal'c and Daniel were the magic 4, one of the best there was, they always made me laugh, especially jack..
