my neighbor was robbed today..

and i am freaking out. i live in a student hostel with other students, and somebody forced my neighbor's window open and stole her laptop and jewelry. we spent 2 hours trying to comfort her and talk to the police and whatever. im terrified to leave my room because i think that someone will be standing there. and i live right across from this huge window that shows the alley so it always scares me when i open my door. i remember that someone robbed my house when i was lil, but this is the first time anything like this has happened since then. its not cool to be scared to leave your room! we begged for better safety measures, so hopefully they'll do what we asked. has anyone else been robbed or had a similar experience?
