I didn't realize this movie was so old, I remember watching it as a kid, but I thought it came out in the 1980's. I was wrong, it came out in the 1960's!!! (1965)
Peter Robbins is the voice of Charlie Brown.
I don't watch much Charlie Brown, but my niece played the Red-Headed Girl in a Charlie Brown play at her school, which made me think of this.
Oh, check it out! You can actually BUY the Charlie Brown tree! At Urban Outfitters:
"Good Grief. Learn the true meaning of Christmas with Charlie Brown's classic pathetic Christmas tree. Leave it bare or dress it up all fancy. The tree is an exact replica of the tree from the famous cartoon, made of wire branches and plastic needles with a criss cross wooden base. The bendable branches allow you to make it look just how you want, super pathetic or just kind of pathetic. The tree comes with one red Christmas ball ornament. Plus the bendable branches make it possible to fold the tree entirely flat for easy storage during the non-yuletide times of the year.
* Wire/ plastic/ wood base
* Base: 91/2"l, 27/8"w; Tree: 21"h; glass ball: 3"w
* Take care with rough wood base, as it tends to splinter
* Imported
PEANUTS copyright UFS, Inc."

You're welcome and anytime. That's my favorite thing about MyLot, how many old things I think about! :) Esp. from the 1980's.

Charlie Brown Christmas is one of my favorites of the season. I remember watching it in the 60's. I still watch it every year. I love how it embodies the reason for the season in a simple yet poignant way. I can't believe you can buy the tree. How great! What a wonderful tradition this simple program has become for so many generations.

I'm really glad it was created. Somehow, though I think Urban Outfitters is exploiting the fact that Charlie Brown Christmas is against marketing and etc. due to Christmas, by selling the "pathetic Christmas tree". It's like a positive and a negative.

Well! I guess I am fated to respond back to this because my mom always called me Charlie Brown when I was growing up. I am still called that today and I am 50. Charlie Brown Christmas was always my favorite. Everyone thought he was so pathetic when he brought that skinny little almost leafless tree but they all pulled it together and it turned out just fine. I have seen the Charlie Brown Tree offered before by other companies but I can not remember who or when.

Yeah, I mentioned that - I was thinking about getting one but the fact that it's being sold at Urban Outfitters kind of defeats the point that Charlie Brown is against commercialism and merchandising, etc.

You know, I don't think I have ever watched that episode all the way through...I want to know! My mother has this faux tree we call the Charlie Brown tree because it's so sad looking. Everywhere she tries to pawn it off on me, I don't know why she just doesn't get rid of it! heh

Yes, I just watched Charlie Brown's Christmas the other night and we also noticed how old the movie was. It is amazing that the message is still as poignant today as it was in 1965. Thanks for helping to talk all of us down memory lane.
Charlie Brown's Christmas is a classic and I hope that it will still be playing another 40 years for our great grandchildren to be watching!

I'm glad to provide a trip to the past! Mine's not as long as some, but I love going back! I hope it's still around, too. I am refusing to get rid of my copy of Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer, the CBS special, for the same reason!

I loved Charlie Brown as a kid, and my two kids now, age 7 and 4, watch it constantly too. For the holidays of course, the Christmas one, at least once a day. My son (the 7 year old) wants all the Charlie Brown movie collection!! I think that is great considering most cartoons these days are garbage.

I agree with that 100%. Compared to the cartoons from the '60's, 70's & 80's, what we have now is just a bunch of junk, most of them are actually sending negative messages to kids instead of good ones, or are completely pointless.

That is pretty funny...but I would consider getting one! I remember the Charlie Brown Christmas from when I was a kid, & I was born in 1958! I still have to see it every year!

Charlie Brown Christmas is by the far one of the best Christmas movies out there. It's not too long, so kids can watch the whole thing AND it has a good message.
Why am I not surprised that Urban Outfitters is selling the charlie brown tree. I'm sure it's outrageously priced... just like everything else in that store.

I'll see if I can find out! Yeah, you're right - $24 for the tree, or you can buy "linus's blanket" for $34.

Hard to believe this Christmas classic is as old as I am. I recently seen the Charlie Brown collection of Holiday movies at Best Buy, and was almost tempted to buy them. I had no idea they sold a Tree like that. That is interesting to know.

Another Year
I sit here tonight
Thinking of what has been
Thinking of what may come.
Every year I get older
I know in my heart
Im still the same man.
Yet everyone else
Seems to drift away
They forget what I want
They forget what I need
They forget what Im about.
It the simple little things
That rip at my heart.
Those stupid coments they make
Cut me to the bone in a second.
U they ask me what i want and need
Then go out and do the other.
Just cause they like it.
Why is simplisty so hard?
I now know why it is so pure
Why it means everything to me.
