Banning smoking in bars and restaurants in Las Vegas

Hi. Not too long ago a law was passed stating there will no longer be any smoking in bars and restaurants. Now there are alot of people who are protesting this. In my opinion, when a law is passed, no matter what the law is, that should be that, no over riding it. If they are going to over ride this particular law, then it will make me not even want to vote any more. Why are people fighting this law, but not any others???

People are challenging this law for many reasons. One of the problems that I have with this law is that it EXCLUDES. Casinos are excluded from this law. In a casino you can eat, drink and gamble. In a bar and many restaurants you can do the same. Why then should casinos be exempt? Even though I am not a smoker I question the integrity and motives behind this particular piece of legislation.

I am not a smoker, and I feel the same way about the casinos. Here in Nevada the casinos are so money hungry(as you know) that I guess they are afraid people won't come here anymore if they take smoking out of the casinos. I doubt that though. Who doesn't want to come here to Vegas?

People fight the laws that concern them and pretain to them directly. A lot of people smoke. Not all laws are necessarily good laws. There are plenty of reasons to protest plenty of laws. I wouldn't protest a smoking ban, but that's because I don't care about where I can or can't smoke. As long as I can smoke in my own home, I'm happy. I protest laws that effect me and how I live my life. Or laws I feel very strongly about. Most people do. Clearly, this smoking ban is important to them.
