Do batteries run out faster on an ipod if the volume is turned up?

I know this is a very random question, but i'm having a debate about it with a friend and wondered if anyone knew. I'd guess they must run out quicker, but have no idea how fast, or why really?

yes , with volume turned up , the batteries run out faster . It is a known fact . we are using more power to listen at high volume of sound . so the power is consumed in less time ...
